July is the time to start enjoying your vegetable harvest!

I hope you all are enjoying a bountiful vegetable garden.

I decided to experiment with my container vegetable gardening this year. I have planted broccoli, cabbage, peas, lettuce, mizuna, arugula, tomatoes, Swiss chard and herbs.

I have been enjoying lettuce mizuna and arugula in salads and sandwiches. My snow peas are crisp and oh so good! I picked some cherry tomatoes the last few days and they were sweet and very tasty. My broccoli is starting to form the head and is about 2 inches round. It is looking really nice and green. The cabbage is starting to form.

I am growing all this in a few pots on a small second floor balcony. The patio faces west and gets sun from about 11 am until the sun sets. It can be very hot but the vegetable plants seem to love it.

I have been making compost tea and feeding the soil in the containers with this.

All you need is a tiny little corner on your patio or balcony to enjoy some fresh tasty veggies of your own.
